Research

My research interests are in the areas of the quantum simulation of nano-structured and bulk materials. During my Ph.D. study in UC Berkeley, I was dedicated to the study of intrinsic mechanical properties, i.e., ideal strength, elastic stability, phonon structure, etc., of the metallic materials along with their electronic structures using the Density Functional (Perturbation) Theory. My past work involved transition-metal aluminides FeAl, CoAl and NiAl as well as the multifunctional Ti-based super alloys (so called "GUM METAL"). My current research focuses on the semiconductor nanoclusters by employing a variety of theoretical tools including ab initio, quantum chemistry, and quantum Monte Carlo.
